Carl Colasacco was sworn in Monday as Aberdeen’s newest police chief.

Colasacco started his 27 year law enforcement career in 1992 as a reserve officer in Pinebluff. Colasacco joined Aberdeen Police Department in 1995 and has served the last five years as Deputy Police Chief of Investigations.

Calasacco replaced retired police chief Tim Wenzel.

The Town of Aberdeen conducted a wide search for the position, a news release said.  Eight qualified candidates participated in interviews with the town manager and HR director, which resulted in a clear indication that Chief Colasacco was the most qualified and equipped candidate to lead the Aberdeen Police Department.

“I am extremely proud to hire Chief Colasacco as an internal candidate from our own police department,” said Town Manager Paul Sabiston. “Chief Colasacco is and will continue to be a great asset for our community.”

Chief Colasacco will lead a staff of 32+ employees.
