Disturbance call leads to arrest

Aberdeen police officers responded to a business in the area of Highway 1 and Magnolia Drive about an active disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers located Russell Shaw, 49, of Cameron, at his vehicle in the parking lot and gathered information from him and the store clerk.

“While interacting with Shaw, he continued to use profanity around customers in the parking lot,” said Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis in a press release. “In addition, officers saw drug paraphernalia in plain view inside Shaw’s vehicle.”

Chavis did not release the name of the business the disturbance took place.

Shaw was then placed under arrest and charged with disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.

“Shaw was transported to the jail, where marijuana was located on his person, and he was charged with Felony Possess a Controlled Substance on Jail Premises,” said Chavis.

He was also served with an outstanding criminal summons out of Moore County for communicating threats.

Shaw was taken before a Moore County magistrate and given a $3,500 secured bond.
