Driver avoids serious injury in rollover crash near Lobelia

The driver of a Subaru escaped with minor injuries after a serious single-vehicle crash on Lobelia Road Friday night. The crash occurred just before 7 p.m. in a curve between Morrison Bridge Road and McGill Road.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the Subaru was traveling east toward Spring Lake when the driver crossed the centerline, overcorrected, and slid off the right side of the road. The vehicle struck a tree and overturned, finally coming to rest on its side against another tree.

The Subaru sustained extensive damage. The female driver was evaluated at the scene by EMS but declined transport to the hospital.

The eastbound lane of Lobelia Road was briefly closed while crews worked to clear the scene and remove the vehicle.

Responding to the scene were Crains Creek Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and N.C. Highway Patrol.
