Just before 5 a.m. Tuesday, authorities were called to the 800 block of Pinebluff Lake Road outside of Pinebluff. The call originally came in as a structure fire, but when the first units arrived on scene, they found an SUV had hit a tree and was fully involved.
According to Pinebluff Fire and Rescue, the driver had fled the scene but is not believed to be injured from the crash.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it could spread to a nearby building.
At the time of this article, it is unknown if authorities have apprehended the driver.
State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
Responding to the scene were Pinebluff Fire and Rescue, Aberdeen Fire and Rescue, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and State Highway Patrol.
