An Eagle Springs resident held an intruder at gunpoint until deputies arrived on the scene, according to a news release from Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields.
Eric Callihan, 39, of Vass, was arrested Tuesday and placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $350,000 secured bond.
“On May 11th, 2021, at 5:22 A. M., the Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an intruder at a home in the Eagle Springs community,” said the advisory. “Deputies responded to the scene and found a subject, later identified as Eric Wayne Callihan, inside of a vehicle at the residence. The homeowner on the scene was holding the subject at gun point when Deputies arrived. The suspect resisted Deputies when being taken into custody. Upon further investigation, Deputies determined that Callahan was attempting to break into the home while the family was still inside.”

The suspect is due in court on June 16 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
