Family and pets safe after mobile home fire in Eastwood

A family in the Eastwood community suffered a devastating loss Tuesday evening when their home caught fire. Several fire departments in Moore County were dispatched to the fire on Forest Lake Lane off Pine Hill Road around 5:30 p.m.

The first unit on scene reported a single-wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames. As mutual aid units arrived and accessed the fire, which was down a rough private dirt road, a quick knockdown of the fire was completed, but the home was deemed a total loss.

The two adults and their two dogs were outside the residence when units arrived and were not injured in the blaze.

Eastwood Fire Chief Scott Bullins told Sandhills Sentinel it was a great response and knockdown by all responding departments. The Moore County Fire Marshal was on scene and is investigating the cause of the fire.

The Red Cross was contacted and is assisting the family.

Responding units were Eastwood Fire Department, Pinehurst Fire Department, Southern Pines Fire Department, Carthage Fire Department, West End Fire Department, Whispering Pines Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and Moore County Public Safety.
