Firefighters battle car fire after crash

Firefighters with Carthage Fire Department and High Falls Fire & Rescue responded to a single-vehicle crash on Friday, June 18. 

Carthage Fire Department said on its social media page that it took crews about 8 minutes to get the car fire under control after arriving on the scene on Deep River Trail near S. Carbonton Road.

The off-road accident occurred at 7:30 a.m. The driver was transported to EMS after safely escaping the vehicle.

First responders closed the road for 30 minutes to work and clear the scene.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was also assisting at the crash.
