Forbes names FirstHealth among America’s best large employers

FirstHealth of the Carolinas has been named to the Forbes 2025 list of America’s Best Employers.

FirstHealth ranked 43rd out of 701 employers and 15th among the 57 hospitals and health systems on the list. Visit Forbes’ website to see the full list.

“We are thrilled to receive this recognition, and I’m deeply proud of the incredible team we have here at FirstHealth of the Carolinas,” FirstHealth CEO Mickey W. Foster said in a news advisory. “Our providers and employees are at the heart of everything we do, and being included on this list reflects our ongoing commitment to being the best place to work in health care nationally.”

Forbes presents the award in collaboration with Statista, the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider.

Forbes and Statista selected America’s Best Employers 2025 through an independent survey of more than 217,000 U.S. employees working for companies employing at least 1,000 people in the U.S. Over 6.5 million employer evaluations were considered.

The final score is based on two types of evaluations: personal (those given by employees themselves) and public (those given by friends and family members of employees, or members of the public who work in the same industry).

Berni Szczepanski, MBA, FirstHealth’s chief people officer, said the system remains committed to helping employees thrive as they serve patients and their families.

“FirstHealth is committed to building a workplace that nurtures talent, encourages innovation and supports the system’s goal of delivering award-winning care across the communities we serve,” she said.
