A former tenant is accused of stealing a gun from a home in Cameron.
Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields made the announcement on Tuesday.
“On Saturday, June 22, 2024, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a larceny of a firearm from a residence in Cameron, North Carolina,” said Fields in a statement issued to Sandhills Sentinel. “Sheriff’s investigators quickly located and recovered the firearm after tracking down a former tenant of the residence where the firearm was stolen.”
Investigators arrested the suspect the same day. Twenty-five-year-old Taylor Curtis, of Cameron, was arrested on charges of one count of larceny of a firearm and one count of possession of a stolen firearm.
Curtis was committed to the Moore County Detention Center without bond pending a first appearance in Moore County district court on July 3 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
