A family arrived home to find their house on fire Thursday evening.
The blaze broke out at the home located in the 700 block of Mimosa Drive inside the Woodlake community near Vass.
The residents told firefighters they came home and found the house filled with smoke and realized the garage was on fire.
Emergency units arrived to find a fire in the garage that was quickly spreading into the attic. The fire was quickly knocked down, but the garage and attic suffered extensive damage. Even though the home had lots of smoke damage inside, it was not believed to be a total loss.
Mimosa Drive was blocked for over two hours while crews worked the scene.
The fire marshal was on scene and is investigating the cause of the fire.
Responding to the fire were Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Crains Creek Fire Department, Spout Springs Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office and Moore County Public Safety.
