Lakeview man safe after neighbor calls 911

Thanks to the quick action of his neighbor, a man from Lakeview is safe after his mobile home caught on fire on Saturday afternoon. The incident happened around 1 p.m. at a home on Tall Oak Road in the Lakeview community just outside of Vass.

According to authorities on the scene, the man was inside his home when he noticed smoke coming from the bathroom. He went to investigate and was quickly overcome by the smoke.

The homeowner could not find his phone, but he managed to stumble out of his home and to his neighbor’s front door. He was able to ask them to call 911 because his house was on fire before passing out.

Once emergency units arrived, medical attention was immediately rendered to the man, who was in and out of consciousness. Firefighters quickly put out the fire, which was contained to the bathroom.

The man was transported to Moore Regional Hospital for treatment.

The Moore County Fire Marshal was on scene investigating the cause of the fire.

Responding units were Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Whispering Pines Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Vass Police Department, and Moore County Public Safety.
