Lending Paws A Hand, located in Sanford, was announced as a finalist in the animal, wildlife & marine welfare category in the fourth annual Defender Services Awards.
“We’re up for $25,000 toward saving animals in North Carolina and a new rescue vehicle if we win!” said the nonprofit on its Facebook page Monday.
Public voting, which will take place from Oct. 2 through Oct. 17, will ultimately decide the winning organizations for each category. The winning organizations will each receive a new Defender 130 vehicle fully customized to best address their needs and awarded $25,000 by their category sponsor, empowering them to further their missions.
Built for purpose, The Defender 130 is equipped with three rows of seating for up to eight volunteers and ample space with 88.9 cubic feet (2,516 liters) of load capacity to enhance each charity’s efforts. The winning organization will be able to customize its vehicle with robust Defender accessories that will meet the challenges of its mission, along with a custom exterior vehicle wrap.
“Each year, we are incredibly inspired by the video submissions for the Defender Service Awards from organizations throughout North America and their tireless acts of service for their communities,” Sam Allen, Defender U.S. Brand Director, said. This initiative is a reflection on the Defender brand’s commitment to supporting and furthering humanitarian efforts across the globe.”
Lending Paws a Hand is a small but ambitious organization on a mission to save the lives of unwanted dogs and cats throughout Lee County. Lending Paws A Hand works with their community and a rural county animal shelter to transfer at-risk animals into temporary foster homes and ultimately find them permanent, loving homes where they can find happiness, comfort and care for the rest of their lives.
