Lengthy drug investigation nets two arrests

Moore County Sheriff’s Department arrested two men following a “lengthy” drug investigation in the Addor community.

In a press release issued to Sandhills Sentinel, Sheriff Ronnie Fields said 59-year-old Quinton McMillan, of Pinebluff, and 51-year-old Edwin Hammond, of Hoffman, face several drug charges after being recently arrested.

Detectives confiscated suspected fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, and various items of drug paraphernalia.

McMillan faces charges of two counts of trafficking in opium or heroin, selling and delivering a Schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of marijuana less than ½ ounce, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was held on a 48-hour hold as required under HB813. He is due in court on Oct. 3.

Hammond faces charges of four counts of trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, selling and delivering a Schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, trafficking in opium or heroin, simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, five counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle.

Hammond’s secured bond was $400,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 26.

“Sheriff Fields emphasizes the commitment of the Moore County Sheriff’s Office to combating drug-related activities within the community,” said the press release.
