Two women from Southern Pines have been arrested for prostitution and performing unlicensed massage therapy.

Southern Pines Police Department said Genhua Zhou, 47, and Baoping Wu, 46, were arrested after a month long undercover operation.

The Southern Pines Police Department, along with investigators from the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy initiated an investigation in June following complaints that the Beijing Massage, located at 280 Pinehurst Avenue in Southern Pines, was operating without a proper license from the state, and were engaging in prostitution with its customers.

Additional arrests are anticipated as this investigation remains active and ongoing.

“At the time of their arrests, Zhou and Wu were in control or possession of multiple business records including the names, addresses and credit card information/receipts of customers that received services at the Beijing Massage,” said Captain Charles Campbell.

Zhou and Wu were released without bond after being charged and have a court date on August 14.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
