A male driver escaped serious injury but was arrested after a crash Monday night in Harnett County about a mile from the Moore County border. Emergency units were dispatched to the intersection of Hillman Grove Road at Cypress Church Road around 9 p.m.
They arrived on scene to find the driver of a Hyundai Sonata ran a stop sign and went off the road. The car narrowly missed a power pole and guidewire before hitting a tree and overturning, coming to a stop just over 60’ off the road.
There was significant front and driver-side damage to the vehicle.
The driver was the only occupant and was evaluated by EMS at the scene. After being evaluated, the driver was arrested for DWI.
One lane of Hillmon Grove Road was shut down for over an hour while crews worked the scene and the vehicle was removed. Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the crash.
Responding to the scene were Crains Creek Fire Department, Benhaven Emergency Services and N.C. State Highway Patrol.
