A Southern Pines man was arrested after police said they found a stolen gun and drugs on him after he ran away during a narcotics investigation.

Jonathan Isiah Durham, 21, from Southern Pines, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacture/sell/deliver/possess with intent to sell a controlled substance within 1000’ of a school, manufacture/sell/deliver/possess with intent to sell a controlled substance within 1000’ of a park, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm with a serial number altered/removed, carrying a concealed firearm and resisting arrest.

On Friday afternoon, officers from Southern Pines Police Department were ‘conducting a narcotics investigation in the 1200 block of West New York Avenue’ when Durham fled on foot.

When the police apprehended him in nearby woods, officers recovered $5,317, 51 grams of marijuana, digital scales, and a stolen Smith and Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol which had an altered/removed serial number.

Durham was jailed under a $150,000 bond and is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
