A 27-year-old Aberdeen man was arrested on heroin charges after a traffic stop on Monday.
Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said in a statement the traffic stop occurred in Southern Pines.
“On September 27th, 2021, Deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop in the 10000 block of U.S. Highway 15/501,” said Fields. “During the traffic stop, Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle. As a result of the search, Deputies located heroin, items of drug paraphernalia, a concealed handgun, and $101.00 in currency.”
Matthew Kunik was arrested and placed under a $50,000 secured bond and charged with trafficking opium or heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, possession of heroin, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed gun, and following too closely.
The suspect is due in court on October 14 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
