A man from Montgomery County was sentenced to 50-72 months in prison for a 2020 shooting in Eagle Springs.
During the week of June 5, Marquette Antonio Colquitt Jr. was tried in Moore County superior court.
Judge James Webb sentenced Colquitt to 50 to 72 months in the N.C. Department of Correction for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. The court sentenced Colquitt to 24 to 41 months of confinement for discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.
According to a press release from Moore County District Attorney Mike Hardin, Colquitt shot Sean Harrington several times outside of his home in Eagles Springs on March 28, 2020. Harrington’s home was struck multiple times during the shooting.
“Harrington was seriously injured, but survived the attack and identified his first cousin, Marquette Antonio Colquitt Jr., as the shooter,” said Hardin. “An investigation by members of the Moore County Sheriff’s Office discovered Colquitt had been threatening Harrington in the weeks leading up to the shooting.”
The court ordered the sentences to be served concurrently.
“The Moore County District Attorney’s office would like to recognize the hard work by members of the Moore County Sheriff’s Office in this case,” said Hardin. “Additionally, we always like to recognize the dedication and sacrifice by the members of the jury in spending the week hearing this case.”
