Moore County units assisted at the scene of an intense house fire in Sanford on Sunday night.
The fire was reported shortly before 9 p.m. at a residence off of Old N.C. 87. When firefighters arrived, they found that flames had already spread through the home and into nearby structures.
“Upon arrival, heavy fire was visible with multiple buildings burning,” reports the Crains Creek Fire Department. “During firefighting operations, several [liquid propane] gas tanks vented and ignited, complicating suppression efforts.”
Crews worked in intense conditions to try and get the fire under control. Surrounding roads saw closures due to the arrival of so many units on scene.
“Although the home was a total loss, firefighters successfully saved a vehicle in the front yard and a tractor in a storage building,” the Crains Creek Fire Department notes. “Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.”
