Motorcyclist airlifted after Vass crash

A motorcyclist was airlifted on Wednesday morning in wake of a crash in Vass. The collision occurred on Thurlow Lake Road just before 8 a.m. and took authorities over two hours to investigate and clear.

The rider of a motorcycle crashed headlong into the front passenger side of a MasTec utility truck, leaving the rider with severe injuries.

After quickly assessing the scene, first responders called for a medevac helicopter, and a landing zone was established at Sandy Ramey Keith Park in Vass, ensuring that the injured rider could receive prompt medical attention. The motorcyclist was then transported to the landing zone via ambulance. The condition and extent of the injuries is currently unknown at this time.

The occupants of the MasTec truck did not sustain any injuries and declined treatment and transport by EMS.

The motorcycle bore the brunt of the impact and sustained heavy allover damage, with parts of the sportbike torn completely apart upon impact. The cause of the crash is still under investigation at this time.

First responders and utility workers worked collaboratively to clear the scene, with the utility workers assisting in redirecting traffic while the two-lane country road was closed for investigation. Nearby residents volunteered their yards and driveways to help get vehicles safely turned around.
