No bond given to man accused of stealing trailer with $100K worth of equipment

A 35-year-old Cameron man was arrested in connection with an investigation into a stolen trailer. In a news release on July 17, the Aberdeen Police Department announced the arrest of William Moore. On July 7, the police department announced the arrest of Kourtney Moore, 29, of Cameron, in the investigation. 

The case began on May 30, when Aberdeen officers responded to a construction site near the Legacy Lakes community, located off Highway 15-501 S, regarding a stolen trailer containing various types of equipment and tools valued at over $100,000.

On June 11, Aberdeen investigators were notified that the trailer was recovered in Harnett County, abandoned in a muddy wooded area.

On June 12, Aberdeen investigators went to the location where the recovered trailer was to process the tools and trailer. Upon arrival, the equipment inside had been removed from the abandoned trailer. After further investigation, investigators confirmed a tip regarding the location of some of the stolen property.

On June 26, Aberdeen investigators, along with Moore County Sheriff’s Office and Harnett County Sheriff’s Office, executed multiple search warrants, which led to the recovery of $116,490 worth of equipment from the stolen trailer.

Aberdeen investigators obtained warrants on William Moore for felony larceny, larceny from a construction site, possession of stolen goods, obtaining property by false pretenses and habitual felon.   

On July 8, William Moore was arrested by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department and brought before a Montgomery County magistrate, who did not issue a bond and set a court date for July 23.

No other details were released in the news advisory, including the type of equipment on the trailer. 

Defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
