Bobby “Bob” Wallace Wimmer, age 90, of Carthage, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Bob was born in Roanoke, VA on January 18, 1935 to the late William Wallace and Margaret Black Wimmer. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandson, Wroth and sister, Diane.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Howell Wimmer; daughters, Margaret Sharon Wimmer of TN and Ann Catherine Wimmer, DVM of CA; sons, Robert Mark Wimmer (Tammy) of OR and Christopher Allen Wimmer of CA; grandchildren, Brandt, Scott, Robert, Sara and Berit; brother, Mark Wimmer of NY.
Bob graduated high school in Newport News, VA. His sports interests included Bicycle, Swimming and Basketball. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp. He later pursued careers with General Motors and IBM as an Engineer. He loved to travel, including many places, such as Germany, Japan, Thailand, Russia, Czechoslovakia, Italy, France, Austria, England and Denmark. Prior to living in NC, he lived in VA, MI, Germany and CA, once living in the mountains by a lake and in a valley. He loved having space around him. Throughout his life, he loved animals, tractors, cars and talking to people and making many friends the world over. He loved his family and loved being at home listening to family having fun. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
