Dorothy H. White, also known as “Dot” to her friends, and “Nana” to her loving family, passed away peacefully at her Pinehurst home Sunday, June 17, 2018.

Born on March 1, 1925, she grew up in the High Point area and attended Jamestown High School, where she was a member of the class of 1943. A lifelong resident of North Carolina, she lived in various places in the state over the years, including Jacksonville, Morehead City and Raleigh, before settling in Pinehurst.

It would be impossible to state the ways in which she enriched the lives of all who came to know her. She was a pillar of strength for all of us who were lucky enough to know her well. She was a dedicated friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as a wife of 55 years to William H. White, who preceded her in passing in 1999.

Our Nana was always there to listen to those who needed her, and had the wisdom to guide us in the right direction when we felt lost. She may have left us in body, but her selfless and loving spirit will be with us always.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzee Lynch; son, William H. White II; grandchildren, Fred Lynch, Alison White Wilsey and Patrick White. She is also survived by a brother, Jerry Hunsucker; and four great-grandchildren, David, Grace, Paul, and Jake.

“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4)
