Jimmie Reid Hunsucker, age 93, died peacefully at his home on Friday, August 30, 2024.
Jimmie was a native of Montgomery County, NC and was the son of the late Jehu Henry Hunsucker and Hattie Parnell Hunsucker. He lived in Moore County for more than 80 years. He worked for more than 30 years with the A & P grocery store and later retired from Harris Teeter. After two retirements, Jimmie continued to work at his son’s fencing company, Long-Life Fencing Company managing the office. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Southern Pines. He was a loving husband and father and also loved and cherished his cats. Jimmie also served in the National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Ray, Bill, Havis, Vance, and John Henry Hunsucker, and his sister Marjorie Garner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Doris McRae Hunsucker, his daughter, Denise Hunsucker of Aberdeen, his son, Gregory Hunsucker of Southern Pines, his sister, Hazeline Bullock of Fuquay-Varina, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines with Rev. Benny Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 4 PM.
