Phillip M. Scercy, 70 of Holden Beach, NC died peacefully at home following a hard fought battle with cancer on Monday, March 11, 2019.  He was a long time resident of Moore County.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 2pm on Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines with a service to follow at 2PM.  Burial will follow in the Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen.  

Mr. Scercy was born August 29, 1948 in China Grove, NC to the late Millard M. Scercy and Virginia Beaver Scercy. He was an avid Nascar fan and was a true fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr; He loved surf fishing, restoring classic cars, and road trips.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  Mr. Scercy was a member of the Sabbath Home Baptist Church in Holden Beach.

He is survived by his wife of 28years, Melanie Austin Scercy; a daughter, Morgan Scercy of Holden Beach, NC; a son, Robbie Johnson and wife Jennifer of Mooresville, NC; his deceased son Ronnie Nash fiancé, Chelsie Hunt of Holden Beach, NC; a granddaughter, Eden Johnson; and grandson, August Johnson; A brother, Bobby Scercy and wife Carolyn of China Grove, NC; Three sisters, Joyce Hege and husband Larry of Richfield, NC; Carolyn Hopkins and husband Oscar of Kannapolis, NC; and Vickie Dennis and husband Don of Johnsonville, SC; A brother-in-law, Jim Gilmore and wife Amy of Monroe, NC; Six sister-in-laws; Mary Neal Hall and husband Jimmy of Matthews, NC; Anna Marie Farr and husband David of Little River, SC; Sabrina Watts of Marshville, NC; Monte Griffin of Marshville, NC; Cindy Angel and husband Randy of Kinston, NC; and Pam Moore and husband Andy of King, NC; mother-in-law, Mary Gilmore and husband James of Polkton, NC; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Nash. Three brothers, Brady Scercy, Horace Scercy, and Billy Scercy; two sisters, Mildred Homan and Faye Gaines; and father-in-law Willis Austin.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ronnie Nash memorial fund established thru First Bank at any banking location.
