James Russell Massie, 85 of Pinehurst, passed away on December 2, 2017 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Born on September 3, 1932 in Casstown, Ohio to the late Russell and Lena Massie. Jim worked for Hobart Brothers in Ohio for 46 years. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. He enjoyed playing golf and always walked the course saying it was good exercise.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Massie; one son, Scott Massie and one step-son, Michael Willis.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Massie (nee Gearhart); children, Ryan Massie and his wife, Kay, Pamela Bailar and her husband, Alan; grandchildren, Hannah Massie, Joshua and Nathan Bailar, Marybeth Heath (nee Bailar) and her husband, Dan, Jamie and Jason Willis; also survived by one great-grandson, Arlo Heath.
Burial will be held at Casstown Cemetery in Ohio at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
