Robert Edward Lee, 92, died Sunday, December 3, 2017 in Pinehurst.

Robert was born in Islip, Long Island, NY on August 9, 1925 and grew up in Queens where he married his childhood sweetheart Barbara Kaslow in 1945. Barbara preceded him death on November 27, 2017.

Bob enlisted in the US Army in 1943 and saw action in France and Germany with the 95th Infantry Division as a combat infantryman. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. After his discharge, Bob graduated from Fordham University and was employed by the Western Union Telegraph Company.

Residing in Flushing, NY, he was long-time volunteer with the Catholic Youth Organization. Bob and Barbara then lived in Upper Saddle River, NJ. After moving to Pinehurst in 1993 they spent many happy years golfing and volunteering at many golf tournaments at the Pinehurst Country Club.  He was instrumental in starting the Given Bookshop and worked there for over 10 years.

In addition to his many kind and loving friends in Pinehurst, Bob is survived by his sons and their spouses; Dennis Lee and Kathleen Kitson, Douglas Lee and Lauren Lee, grandchildren; Jenna Lee, Eamon Kitson, and Cole Lee, brother-in-law; Walter Kaslow and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be private at a later date.
