John “Charles” Martin, age 84, of Eagle Springs, died Sunday, February 8, 2026 at FirstHealth Hospice House after a brief illness.
A native of Moore County, he was a son of the late Jesse Earl and Edith Monroe Martin and was a 1960 graduate of West End High School. He was owner and operator of Charles Martin and Associates, an excavation company. He served as a volunteer on the Eagle Springs fire department for over 40 years.
In addition to his parents, John “Charles” was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Thomas Martin; three brothers Hal Martin, Cecil Martin, Herbert Martin; and four sisters Earline Walker, Frances Jordan, Betty Boroughs, and Esther Thomas.
Surviving are his daughter, Carmen Martin of Aberdeen and son, Andy Martin of Pompano Beach, FL; two sisters, Nancy Boroughs and Lois Rankin; granddaughter Ashely (Casey) Holderfield; grandsons Justin (Katie) Cole, and Jonathan Cole; and four great grandchildren, Boone, Evie, Addison, and Willow.
A graveside service at Culdee Presbyterian Church Cemetery will be held on Thursday, February 12 at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
