A single vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 1 sent one person to the hospital Sunday night. Emergency crews were paged at 7:30 p.m. to U.S. 1 south between Roseland Road and Pinehurst Street where they found a vehicle on its side across the southbound lanes.
The vehicle was traveling north from Pinebluff at a reported high rate of speed when the driver lost control. The Audi vehicle ran off the left hand side of the road striking several trees in the median and ended on its side in the southbound lanes. Witnesses traveling behind the car reported the car had almost wrecked just prior to the crash.
The driver was transported by EMS to Moore Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Both south and northbound lanes were completely shut down while emergency crews worked. Traffic was rerouted to Roseland Road and Pinehurst Street to avoid the scene. The NC Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
Responding to the accident were Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Aberdeen Police Department, and the N.C. Highway Patrol.
