Person airlifted after car flips near Cameron

Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue posted on its social media page that a patient from a car crash was flown to a trauma center by UNC Carolina Air Care on Sunday.

The single-vehicle wreck occurred on Highway 24-27 east of Cameron. 

The person was trapped in the vehicle after it flipped on its side by the woods.

Crews stabilized the vehicle. 

After firefighters rescued the patient from the overturned car, the individual was transported to a nearby landing zone. 

Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue said one highway lane was closed during the crash.
