One person died at the scene of a motor vehicle accident in Cameron Monday evening. The single vehicle accident occurred in the 1400 block of old U.S. #1 in near the intersection with Doby Road.
The white, older model Dodge Ram passenger van was carrying five passengers when it overturned after running off the side of the road, according to retired firefighter Frank Staples.
A male, who died at the scene, was thrown from the vehicle. When the first units from Cypress Point Fire & Rescue arrived at the accident, they found two of the five passengers had serious injuries. A second rescue unit was paged from Southern Pines Fire and Rescue.
The identity of the deceased victim is being withheld because authorities are trying to reach his family in Mexico, said the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The NC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
Responding to the accident were Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS and the Highway Patrol.
