At approximately 1:45 p.m.Thursday, first responders were called to the intersection of Highway 24/27 and Highway 705 in Robbins for a semi-truck and pickup truck collision. The semi-truck was jackknifed in the intersection, and the pickup truck was sitting in the gas station parking lot.
Initially, a landing zone for a helicopter was established for a suspected head injury, but the patient from the pickup truck declined medical treatment.
Sources on the scene who witnessed the wreck said the pickup truck turned left, going toward Carthage, while the empty semi-truck was heading west toward Troy to get another load of wood chips. The pickup truck driver allegedly drove in front of the semi, causing a chain of events that led to heavy vehicle damage.
Responding units were Robbins Fire and Rescue, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Moore County EMS, Robbins Police Department and State Highway Patrol.
