On March 16, officers with the Pinebluff Police Department hosted a North Carolina Highway Safety Program’s high visibility checking station in the area of U.S. Highway 1 South and West Monroe Avenue, announced the Pinebluff Police Department.
At this checking station were 11 law enforcement officers from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Foxfire Police, and the Pinebluff Police. Representatives from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), two Moore County magistrates, and the Bat Mobile were also present.
During the checking station, officers issued 41 charges by means of citations, arrests, and a juvenile petition. The charges issued are as follows: driving while license revoked, expired registration, no liability insurance, driving without a driver’s license, child seat belt restraint violations, concealment of handgun/weapon violations, window tint, driving the wrong way in traffic, resisting delaying and or obstructing arrest.
Two individuals were arrested and transported to the Moore County jail during two separate arrests. The two individuals arrested were wanted from two agencies in North Carolina for outstanding charges of larceny of a motor vehicle and failing to appear for traffic violations. One wanted individual transpired from Iredell County, and the other from Scotland County. Both individuals received secured bonds on their warrants and were booked into the Moore County jail without incident.
During the event, two firearms were also seized as they were both allegedly illegally concealed during two separate encounters. A juvenile petition will be obtained for a 15-year-old male for allegedly concealing a modified handgun in his pants during a probable cause-based search of a vehicle for containing suspected illegal narcotics where suspected marijuana and edible gummies were also found. The second illegally concealed firearm was seized, and the owner/possessor was cited and released on scene.
Zero vehicles were towed during this event; however, the Pinebluff Police Department’s rotation wrecker service was available for the event.
“These types of events are necessary for making our streets and communities a safer place for everyone,” said the Pinebluff in a press release. “As we continue to put together these events, we would like to remind the public that motoring public safety is our main concern for the duration of these events. U.S. Highway 1, being a busy major roadway in our county, has a history of motor vehicle collisions, and it is our mission through these events to reduce those collisions.”
