An expectant mother and her 17-month-old escaped serious injuries when her car slammed into a tree to avoid a deer. The wreck happened near Pinebluff in the area of 2500 Roseland Road on Thursday after 10 p.m.
The 911 call initially came in as a pin-in, requiring additional rescue crews. Upon the arrival of the first unit on the scene, they reached the driver and child without the need for extrication. EMS transported the mother and child to FirstHealth Moore Regional in Pinehurst.

The Ford Escape had heavy front-end damage, and the impact snapped several branches high up in the tree.Â
Responding to the scene were Pinebluff Fire & Rescue, Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and the N.C. Highway Patrol.
