A driver was unharmed after his vehicle traveled down a steep embankment in High Falls early Wednesday afternoon after failing to stop at an intersection.
The single occupant of a Hyundai Tucson, who remained on scene, told Sandhills Sentinel that he reportedly attempted to avoid striking an animal and, when he looked up, realized he had missed the stop sign at the intersection of George P. Road and N.C. 22.
The vehicle crossed the intersection, continued down the embankment, and came to rest in a yard. No other vehicles were involved, and the driver was able to keep the car upright.

The vehicle came to rest upright at the bottom of the embankment.
The driver was not injured and was not transported to the hospital by emergency medical services.
The High Falls Fire Department and the N.C. Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
