SPPD investigates after person shot twice

The Southern Pines Police Department is investigating a Saturday shooting that left a person with two gunshot wounds.

The shooting occurred after 4 p.m. near W. Pennsylvania Avenue and N. Stephens Street.

According to an official on scene, one person was transported to the hospital in stable, non-life-threatening condition after sustaining two gunshot wounds to the leg.

The West Pennsylvania Avenue bridge was initially closed to traffic as first responders worked the scene and police investigated, but has since been reopened as of 5:20 p.m. 

No other details have been released.
