Man stabbed several times in Aberdeen

Roughly three hours after the Fourth of July fireworks at Aberdeen Lake ended, a person was stabbed several times a few miles away.

A man was stabbed several times in the chest and abdomen in the 700 block of Keyser Street on Sunday around 1 a.m.

Air care was called to fly the patient to a trauma center, but he became combative and refused to be flown. He later agreed to be transported by EMS to Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Aberdeen officers told Sandhills Sentinel on the scene that no one was in custody.

In an email to Sandhills Sentinel on Tuesday morning, Investigations/Operations Captain Shannon Blackburn said, “We know the suspect was known to the victim, but we have not identified the suspect. We do not know what led to the stabbing, but it appears alcohol was a factor.”
