Moore County businessman Bill Smith passed away suddenly Wednesday. Smith was the founder of Bill Smith Ford, which he ran over three decades.
In August of 2013, he sold the dealership to the Crossroads Automotive Group. He was also the owner of Bill Smith Realty Group and later founded Performance Automotive in Southern Pines. After the sale of his Ford Dealership, Smith said he was excited about new ventures and spending more time with his family.
In addition to his local businesses, Smith was well known for his community activities and many philanthropic ventures.
Smith was born June 17, 1950, attended Brunswick High in Lawrenceville, VA and Elon University in North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife and children. Funeral arrangements are pending.
