Vehicles collide at Carthage intersection

A crash occurred Saturday evening just before 6 p.m. at the intersection of Joel Road and Vass-Carthage Road in Carthage. 

Authorities on scene told Sandhills Sentinel that a Chevrolet truck was traveling north on Vass-Carthage Road when a Toyota RAV4 crossed the intersection heading east on Joel Road.

The Toyota came to rest facing the intersection on the opposite side of Joel Road, while the Chevrolet ended up against a tree at the corner. Airbags deployed in both vehicles, and windows were cracked and shattered.

The couple in the Chevrolet and two females from the Toyota were evaluated at the scene.

The crash remained under investigation at the time of this report, and no further details were released.

The Carthage Fire Department, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Moore County EMS, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
