One dies in Pinebluff crash involving Richmond deputy

An Eagle Springs man was killed after a two-vehicle crash in Pinebluff on Monday at 7:30 a.m.

Officials reported that a Richmond County sheriff’s deputy was traveling south toward Richmond County when the driver of a pickup truck turned into the path of the deputy from W. Chicago Ave. onto U.S. Highway 1. The impact flipped the patrol car on its side, causing heavy damage to the vehicle.

The deputy crawled out of a hole made in the windshield. First responders used hydraulic tools to access the driver of the truck.
