A Richmond County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Pinebluff on Monday at 7:30 a.m.
Officials reported that the deputy was traveling south toward Richmond County when the driver of a pickup truck turned into the path of the deputy from W. Chicago Ave. onto U.S. Highway 1. The impact flipped the patrol car on its side, causing heavy damage to the vehicle.
The deputy crawled out of a hole made in the windshield. First responders used hydraulic tools to remove the driver of the truck.
Both drivers were taken by ambulance to the hospital. The truck driver was seriously injured. His condition is unknown at this time.
