The Town of Southern Pines will hold its annual First Eve this Sunday evening starting at 6:00 p.m.

The celebration to bring in the new year will feature live music, storytelling, a magician, games, face painting, stilt walker, roaming Disney characters, pictures with Olaf, and horse and carriage rides.

Although this is a family fun event, the town is encouraging citizens to leave their pets at home because it will be loud and busy.  Southern Pines Police Department is urging the public to use caution while enjoying the celebration.

The police are reminding everyone that NW Broad Street will be closed from W. Connecticut Avenue to W. Pennsylvania Avenue and the 100 block of E. New Hampshire Avenue from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  If you leave your vehicle there, it will be towed.

The countdown to the “Pine Cone Drop” begins at 8:00 p.m.

This free event takes place at the Southern Pines Train Station and is sponsored by Maison Real Estate Team, Penick Village, Sandhills Pediatrics, Crossroads Ford, State Farm Insurance; Agent Ward Roland, Southern Pines Business Association, and the Town of Southern Pines.
