One person was transported to the hospital in a two-vehicle crash in Southern Pines Saturday afternoon. The accident occurred just before 4 p.m. on Highway 15-501 in front of Red Bowl Asian Bistro.
A Hyundai Tiburon suffered extensive front end damage. The collision sent a Mercury sedan up onto the grass and against a tree.
The driver of the Mercury was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Hyundai was uninjured.
The collision closed the southbound lanes for a short period of time. Rockwell Towing responded to the scene.
Southern Pines Police is investigating the cause of the accident.
