Southern Pines officer named employee of the quarter

Officer Nathan Davis has been named the Southern Pines Police Department’s Employee of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2025.

The department’s awards committee met Oct. 21 to review nominations for the honor, which is a peer-nominated award finalized by the agency’s supervisory and leadership team.

Davis was recognized for his actions during a disturbance call at a local motel, where his initiative led to a search warrant that uncovered evidence linked to an ongoing criminal enterprise known as the Felony Lane Gang. The investigation resulted in multiple arrests and involved several outside agencies across state lines.

“During the investigation, you took the initiative to go above and beyond and your actions ultimately led to a search warrant being obtained and executed,” writes the Southern Pines Police Department in its Facebook post announcing the award. “This led to multiple arrests and the discovery of property and evidence that was directly related to an ongoing criminal enterprise (Felony Lane Gang). Your efforts ultimately led to the inclusion of a number of outside agencies for the investigation which extended well beyond Southern Pines and the state of North Carolina. This is a great example of dedicated police work.”

The award itself commends Davis’s dedication to public safety, community trust, and civic responsibility.

Chief of Police Nick Polidori presented the award on Oct. 23.
