Suspects arrested search continues body Moore County quarry

Two suspects are behind bars in connection with a murder of an Asheboro man as authorities continue their search for the body at the old Glendon Pyrophyllite Rock Quarry on Glendon-Carthage Road in Northern Moore County.

Asheboro Police Department said Branson Raye Lambert, 21, was arrested Sunday evening at a Virginia gas station for fatally shooting 23-year-old Dillion Zayne Wirt early Sunday morning. Jessica Lynn Loflin, 36, also known as Jessica Lynn Law, was charged with accessory after the fact. Both suspects are from Asheboro.

Moore County Sheriff’s Department was contacted Sunday morning by Asheboro Police Department to assist in the search of the body at the rock quarry, according to Moore County Sheriff’s Department.

First responders halted the search Sunday evening and resumed Monday morning, Moore County Sheriff’s Office told Sandhills Sentinel in a phone call.

Multiple fire and law enforcement agencies from Moore County and Lee County are assisting with a water search.

The rock quarry is north of Carthage and is privately owned.
