SUV catches fire at Pinehurst business

A business in Pinehurst lost their company vehicle to a fire Monday night. Emergency units were dispatched just before 7:30 p.m. to a business located on Page Road North in the Pinehurst Commons Office Complex.

First responders arrived to find a Chevrolet SUV fully engulfed in flames just a few feet away from the building.

According to officials on scene, an employee was loading supplies in the vehicle to prepare for work the next day. When the employee came back out of the building, they discovered the vehicle was on fire.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, but the SUV was completely destroyed. Almost the entire vehicle was ruined, melted, and blackened from the intensity of the fire.

The employee was not injured and the building itself was not damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Responding units included the Pinehurst Fire Department and Pinehurst Police Department.
