On July 5, at 10:23 p.m., members of the Southern Pines Police Department’s Directed Patrol Unit conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Buffalo Wild Wings on U.S. 1 for a motor vehicle infraction.
During this stop, officers detected the odor of controlled substances and observed a bag of suspected controlled substances within the vehicle in plain view, announced the department in a press release.
A search of the driver, passenger and vehicle revealed the following suspected narcotics and paraphernalia: 5.20 grams of cocaine, 12.70 grams of marijuana, 27.20 grams of methamphetamine, 66 dosage units of MDMA, 3.50 grams of fentanyl, $1,288 in cash and a set of digital scales.
Christopher Pearson, 41 years of age, of Gibson, North Carolina, was arrested and appeared before a Moore County magistrate, where he was remanded to the Moore County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond pending a hearing in Moore County Court on July 24.
Faneisha Bethea, 34 years of age, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was arrested and appeared before a Moore County magistrate, where she was remanded to the Moore County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond pending a hearing in Moore County Court on July 24.
The Southern Pines Police Department said the charges are maintaining a vehicle for the sale of controlled substances (two counts), possession with intent to sell and deliver Schedule II controlled substances (two counts), possession with intent to sell and deliver Schedule I controlled substances (two counts), possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana (two counts), possession of cocaine (two counts), possession of marijuana (two counts), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
