Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in Star

A Highfalls man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop in Star on Thursday.

Moore County Sheriff’s Department pulled the vehicle over in the 5000 block of Spies Road.

“Detectives initiated the traffic stop due to the investigator’s prior knowledge of the driver of the vehicle not having a valid driver’s license,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a press release.

While searching the vehicle, detectives located suspected methamphetamine, amphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.

Dustin Brady, 37, was arrested on charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, felony possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II-controlled substance- (amphetamine), felony possession of schedule II-controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place to keep a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving without an operator’s license.

Brady was committed to the Moore County Detention Center without bond under a 48-hour hold. He is due in court on March 8 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
