A garbage truck caught fire on Cameron Avenue in Vass.
“Upon arrival, the first CPFR engine crew found that the garbage truck operator had quickly and wisely dumped the burning load into an open lot to prevent further damage to the vehicle,” said the Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue on its Facebook page about the Monday 7 a.m. fire. “The pile of refuse was actively burning when firefighters arrived.”
Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly.
“While the exact cause remains undetermined, it is believed that the fire originated from material that had been collected during the truck’s residential trash route,” said the fire department.
