A driver of a Ford F-150 pickup truck left the scene after crashing into a tree in Eagle Springs on New Year’s Eve.
According to Eagle Springs firefighters, the unidentified driver was not at the scene on Eagle Branch Road when they arrived. Witnesses told them the driver got out of the truck and walked toward Eagle Springs Road. The Moore County Sheriff’s Department briefly searched the area but did not find the driver.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says the driver crossed the centerline and veered off the left shoulder. The truck barely missed a power pole before running through some brush, coming to a stop when it hit a tree. Troopers say they are unsure if the driver was injured, or what caused the driver to veer left. The crash is under investigation.
The Eagle Springs Fire and Rescue, the Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol all responded to the scene.
