Two arrested after Sheriff’s Office seizes drugs, stolen weapon

Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced the arrest of two individuals following a search in the Southern Pines area of Moore County. On Aug. 29, detectives with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 1200 block of West Indiana Avenue. During the search, detectives seized suspected cocaine, marijuana, items of drug paraphernalia, and a firearm.

Detectives arrested Antwain Stroman, age 36, of Southern Pines, and he was arrested on charges of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for controlled substances, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Stroman was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a 48-hour hold pursuant to HB813 and is scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on Sept.12.

Detectives also arrested George Reaves Jr., age 60, of Southern Pines, and he was arrested on charges of felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Reaves also had an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to pay child support.

He was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond, with a first court appearance scheduled in Moore County District Court on Sept. 19.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
